Meanwhile, the ED is expected to approach the Supreme Court with a special leave petition (SLP) against the HC order that granted bail to Hemant Soren.

The HC had stated that there is "reason to believe" that Hemant Soren was not guilty of the offence as alleged by the ED.

The ED's legal team had requested the court for a stay on the implementation of the bail order for 48 hours, on the day bail was granted to him so that it could move the Supreme Court. However, the high court had rejected the plea.
