The Mumbai Traffic Police has released details of roads that will be closed for traffic in the light of the high-profile Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding. Several roads leading to Mumbai's Jio World Convention Centre will witness restricted access from 4:00 pm to midnight on July 5 and between 1:00pm and midnight from July 12 to 15, news reports said.
Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's son Anant and his fiancee Radhika, daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant, are set to tie the knot at the industrial capital on July 12.
Here is what Mumbai commuters need to know about road closures and travel restrictions in the light of the wedding:
1. The Latika Road will be functional as a one-way from Ambani Square to Laxmi Tower Junction, while the Avenue 3 Road will be one-way from Kautilya Bhavan to the American Consulate.
2. Vehicular traffic will not be permitted on the Kurla MTNL Road from Laxmi Tower Junction through Dhirubai Ambani Square Avenue Lane-3, Indian Oil Petrol Pump, and Diamond Junction to Hotel Trident.
3. Those arriving from One BKC should turn left at Laxmi Tower Junction, proceed to Diamond Gate No. 8, then turn right at NABARD Junction, continue to Diamond Junction, and head towards BKC via Dhirubai Ambani Square and the Indian Oil Petrol Pump, the Hindustan Times said in a report.
4. Vehicles coming from Kurla, MTNL Junction, Platina Junction, and Diamond Junction towards the BKC connector bridge will not be permitted to enter the Dhirubai Ambani Square Avenue/Indian Oil Petrol Pump. Instead, drivers should take a left at NABARD Junction, proceed from Diamond Gate No. 8, and turn right at Laxmi Tower Junction.
5. Traffic from Bharat Nagar, One BKC, and Godrej BKC Road will be restricted at Jio Convention Centre Gate No. 23 for proceeding towards the American Consulate and MTNL Junction. Drivers are requested to turn right at Kautilya Bhavan and proceed via Avenue 1 road behind the Insurance Institute Office, the HT report said. The vehicles can then reportedly reach the American Consulate towards their destination via Dhirubai Ambani School.
6. Vehicles from MTNL Junction will be restricted at Signature/Road Sun Tech Building from proceeding towards the American Consulate, Jio World Convention Centre, and BKC Connector. Travellers should remember to take a left at Dhirubai Ambani School, proceeding behind the American Consulate via Avenue 1 road, then turning right at We Work, left at Godrej BKC, and continuing to their destination.
Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding
International pop sensation Justin Bieber, known for chartbusters such as "Baby", "Sorry", "Love Yourself", and "Boyfriend", flew in from Los Angeles here on Friday to perform at Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant's sangeet ceremony. There are reports that Bieber, 30, is being paid USD 10 million to perform at the event, which will also see stage acts by top international singers Adele, Drake, and Lana Del Rey.
The pre-wedding festivities had begun on March 1 in Jamnagar, 300 kilometers from Ahmedabad, known for the world's largest refinery, which is owned by Reliance Industries.
Previously, pop diva Rihanna performed at Anant and Radhika's pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar.
Last month, singer Katy Perry, pop group Backstreet Boys and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli performed at the couple's cruise tour party in Italy and the South of France.
