The budget session of parliament will be held from July 22 to August 12. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the union budget on July 23.

"Hon'ble President of India, on the recommendation of Government of India, has approved the proposal for summoning of both the Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session, 2024 from 22nd July, 2024 to 12 August, 2024 (Subject to exigencies of Parliamentary Business),” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said.

This will be the first full session of the 18th Lok Sabha after the new members took oath during the first session held from June 24 to July 2.

The first budget of the new government will be presented amid high anticipation following President Droupadi Murmu's assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term would be marked by many historic steps.

Murmu had said major social and economic decisions would be a highlight of the budget.

The first session of the house was a stormy affair with the opposition trying to corner the government over a range of issues including NEET-UG examination row and Agniveer scheme.
