The bio of the account admits it’s not affiliated with Dhruv Rathee’s account

Popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has been booked by the cyber wing of Maharashtra Police after one of his parody accounts allegedly posted fake messages on X about Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s daughter Anjali Birla.

Rathee was booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections for defamation, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and statement leading to mischief, as well as the IT Act.

The post on X handle @dhruvrahtee had claimed that Anjali had cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam without appearing for it.

"India is the only country where you can clear UPSC without sitting in the examination. But for that, you have to be born as a daughter of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Om Birla's daughter Anjali Birla cleared UPSC without giving any examination, she is a model by profession. Modi govt is making a mockery of our education system,” the message read.

The bio of the handle, however, admits that it’s a parody account and not affiliated with the original account of Dhruv Rathee. When pointed out this, a police officer said they were investigating the matter, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, the same handle in another post on Saturday tendered an apology for the message and said it has already deleted the previous post.

“As directed by @MahaCyber1, I have deleted all my posts and comments on Anjali Birla, I will like to apologize as I was unaware about the facts and copied someone else' tweets and shared it,” it said.
