At least four persons were killed and 20 others injured as several coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Jhilahi railway station in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
Senior railway and local administration officials are overseeing the rescue operations.
As per railway officials, at least five coaches including four AC coaches of the train derailed in Gonda-Mankapur section around 2.30 pm.
Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner G.S. Naveen Kumar said a 40-member medical team and 15 ambulances are already at the spot and more medical teams and ambulances are being rushed there.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to rush to the spot and expedite relief measures. He also advised officials to ensure better treatment for the injured.
The Assam chief minister’s office said CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has been briefed about the derailment of the train and that he is monitoring the situation. The Government of Assam is in touch with relevant authorities, the CMO said.
