The Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka slammed the Congress government for putting on hold the Kannadiga reservation bill following a huge row. The BJP charged the  Siddaramaiah-led government is using the bill to divert public attention from alleged scams under this government.

State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra said, “I don’t think Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is serious about protecting the interests of Kannadigas. There have been so many scams, they are using diversionary tactics.” Vijayendra said the government should take everybody into confidence while passing the bill. “This confusion shows that the CM is not serious. I urge CM to take everybody into confidence and bring back the bill,” he said.

BJP leader C.T. Ravi said it wasall 'natakbaazi' as the atmosphere wasagainst the CM and Congress government.

However, state cabinet ministers said they haven’t withdrawn the bill, but, put on hold for further consultations. Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge said, “It's not the question of taking back. As a government, we are committed to providing more jobs locally. We will ensure that Karnataka delivers a global workforce from here,” ANI reported.
