The travel influencer, who died on Wednesday after falling into a 300-ft crevice near the famous Kumbhe waterfall at Maharashtra's Mangaon, was stuck inside the gorge for six hours before she was rushed to hospital.

Aanvi Kamdar, a chartered accountant and a former employee with Deloitte, was a travel and food enthusiast who vlogged lifestyle videos. She was shooting a video for her Instagram page when she slipped and fell into the gorge near the famous Kumbhe waterfall at Mangaon in Raigad district.

Kamdar reportedly arrived at the waterfalls with six of her friends for a monsoon outing. She was capturing the picturesque surroundings when the rain caused her to slip and fall into the gorge, according to a Mangaon police station official.

Her friends immediately alerted the police and locals, who rushed to the spot. However, the weather made rescue operations difficult. "As soon as we reached the spot, we realised the girl had fallen nearly 300-350 feet. Even after reaching her, it was difficult to get her up, as she was injured and it was raining heavily. So we decided to get her out using a vertical pulley," a rescuer told NDTV. The rescue operations were further hampered by the stones which kept falling down the gorge.

By then six hours passed. Though Kamdar was rushed to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Kamdar, who goes by her Instagram handle 'theglocaljournal', used to post about travel, places to stay and itineraries. Kamdar has over 258,000 followers on Instagram. Her last post on the places to go during the long weekend had garnered over 770,000 views and 6000 likes.

Earlier this month, a family of seven was swept away in a Lonavla waterfall near Mumbai. While two people managed to swim back to shore, the others were washed away. The accident was caused after incessant rains in the state caused a sudden increase in the water flow at the waterfall.

Following this, authorities had warned people to be cautious while visiting waterfalls and rivers.
