India witnessed another train accident when a goods train wagon derailed between Valsad and Surat stations in Gujarat on Friday afternoon. The Western Railway has confirmed no loss of life was caused in the incident. The derailment took place when railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was taking stock of railway safety and other issues at the Western Railway headquarters in Mumbai.
Earlier on Thursday, at least four people were killed and 20 others injured when coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh. Eight coaches of the train derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations.

- The goods train reportedly derailed near Dungri station at around 3.05 pm. The train was heading towards Surat during the time of the incident. The Western Railway (WR) also confirmed that it was "re-railed" at 5.39 pm.
- The traffic on the DOWN main line will resume as soon as it receives a track fit certificate, news agency PTI quoted a WR spokesperson as saying.
- The Western Railway's Mumbai division, meanwhile, claimed that a trolley wheel of a goods train derailed inside the Dungri station yard, and traffic on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad trunk route was not affected. The train was heading to Palna in Kheda district of Gujarat from Chinchwad near Pune, it said.
