Amidst rains, the water level of the Godavari river in Telangana's Bhadrachalam will increase due to the arrival of flood water coming from the upper areas, Telugu media reports said on Sunday evening quoting official sources. If Godavari's water level reaches 43 feet in Bhadrachalam, the authorities will issue the first emergency warning, reports said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers in most places in Telangana and warned of heavy to very heavy rains likely to occur at isolated places in 10 districts of the state. Heavy rain was very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts, it said. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana, the IMD had warned.

As officials estimate that Godavari's water level is likely to reach 43 feet on Sunday evening, here are five latest updates Bhadrachalam residents should know:

1. The main road from Bhadrachalam to Chhattisgarh and Odisha was blocked due to flooding, reports said. Efforts are being made to move people from flooded villages to resettlement centres. Regions of Dummugudem and Cherla mandals were submerged in the water, affecting traffic and normal life.

2. The water level in Godavari, which was 34 feet on Saturday, reached 36 feet on Sunday morning. According to the latest reports, the water level had reached 40.8 feet at Bhadrachalam in the evening. Due to the arrival of flood waters from upper areas, Godavari's water levels will further rise, ETV Bharat said quoting the Water Resources Department.

3. In Nizamabad district, the Sriram Sagar Project is currently holding 18.833 tmcft of water. 14,063 cusecs of flood water are flowing into the project, local media reports said. Latest reports claim that the water level at the flood-flow project has reached 1067.10 feet. The maximum capacity of the reservoir is reportedly 1091 feet.

4. The Kaddam reservoir of Nirmal district is also getting filled with flood water. The inflow into the reservoir was reportedly 19,686 cusecs while the outflow is 18,227 cusecs.
