A Pune Court remanded the mother of controversial IAS trainee Puja Khedkar’s mother Manorama Khedkar to judicial custody in a land dispute case. Manorama was arrested by Pune police after a video emerged showing her threatening a farmer with a gun.

Manorama Khedkar was produced in Magistrate Court on Monday on expiry of police custody period. The Court remanded her to 14 days of judicial custody. Pune police booked Puja's parents Manorama and Dilip and four others after a video surfaced showing her allegedly threatening some persons with a gun over a land dispute at Dhadwali village in the district's Mulshi tehsil in 2023. Police informed court that they had recovered the pistol used in the crime.

The two-minute video shows Manorama Khedkar brandishing a pistol to threaten a group of farmers, yelling at a man over what appeared to be a land dispute. She, however, conceals the pistol on realising that she is being recorded.

Manorama is heard in the video yelling at a man in Marathi, asking him to show her "satbara" (land documents). He replies that his name is on the land document and the case is in court. She then asks to see the court order and warns the man not to "teach me the rules". Manorama was apprehended on Thursday morning from a lodge, where she was hiding, at Hirkaniwadi village near Mahad in Raigad district.
