The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the final results of the NEET-UG within two days, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Tuesday. He said the exam's merit list will be revised according to the observations made by the Supreme Court.

Pradhan hailed the apex court’s decision to dismiss the petitions seeking cancellation and re-test of the NEET-UG exam, saying truth has prevailed.

"'Satyamev Jayate'. Truth has prevailed," Pradhan said at a press conference in New Delhi.

The top court, in its interim order, dismissed the demand for a re-test and said there was no data on record to indicate a systemic leak of question paper and other malpractices.

"There is absence of material to conclude that result of NEET-UG 2024 exam is vitiated or there is systemic breach," it said.

The court further noted that conducting a fresh NEET-UG exam would be replete with serious consequences for over 23 lakh students who appeared for the exam this year.

The order has come as a shot in the arm for the government which has been maintaining that there was no large-scale leak in NEET-UG exam.

Pradhan said the government has zero tolerance for any kind of breach and the sanctity of exams is "supreme for us".

“If anybody is found involved in exam irregularities, they will not be spared,” the minister said.

NEET-UG is conducted by the NTA for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union education ministry have been at the centre of a massive row after allegations of large-scale malpractices in the NEET-UG exam sparked off students protests across the country.
