The principal of a primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh was suspended after it was found she forced students to fan her as she slept in a classroom. Videos that went viral on the internet showed the principal reportedly identified as Dimple Bansal sleeping on the floor of a classroom as several tiny tots in uniform used handheld fans all around her. The kids even took turns to swing the fans around her, the video showed.
In another video, Dimple Bansal was seen assaulting the students, India Today said in a report. As the video, the source of which remains unknown, went public, there was public outrage, especially from the families of the students involved in the incident. The Block Education Officer reportedly confirmed that it was the same teacher who was seen in the video of the assault on students as well as sleeping during work.
Later, Basic Education Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh was quoted as saying that as the principal serves her suspension, the incident would be investigated and strict action would be taken.
