At least four people were killed and about 40 went missing after two separate incidents of cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh. Roads and houses were destroyed in several places while two hydropower projects were damaged, officials said. 

As many as 35 people have been rescued from the spots so far, Amar Ujala said in a report. Union Home Minister Amit Shah Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh and confirmed help, including the deployment of teams of the National Disaster Response Force.

Road connectivity has been hampered in the affected areas of Rampur and Padhar. Four motorable bridges and footbridges have been washed away and rescue operations are going on in full swing news agency PTI reported. 

Here are five latest developments from the cloudburst-hit places of Himachal Pradesh:

1. Thalatukhod Panchayat Pradhan Kali Ram said that the cloudburst occurred in Terang and Rajban villages. Many people remain missing and three houses have been washed away, he told Amar Ujala.

2. Damaged roads have made rescue efforts difficult. NDRF, SDRF and other units on the ground are forced to move on foot for kilometres to ground zero due to massive destruction and connectivity issues.

3. Malana I and Malana II power projects have suffered heavy damage due to cloudbursts during heavy rains in Malana Nallah of Kullu district. After heavy rains, the water level of the Parvati River has also risen above the danger mark. People from all the areas on the river bank including Jiya, Bhuntar have been appealed to vacate their houses.

4. The Mandi district administration has sought assistance from the Indian Air Force and NDRF. All schools and educational institutions in Padhar of Mandi will remain closed on Thursday.

Reports of houses being damaged in Bhagipul in Kullu have also poured in and an alert has been issued in Bhuntar area of Kullu as the swollen Parvati River and Malana Khud were flooded, reported news agency PTI.
