More money for informers: Centre hikes financial incentives that intelligence agencies can offer

The ministry of home affairs has increased the amount of money that the director generals of paramilitary forces and other intelligence agencies can offer to informers and interpreters in operational areas.

The revised order from the ministry is applicable to director generals of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Assam Riffles, the National Security Guards (NSG), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the National Police Academy (NPA).

The limit, which was Rs. 50 at a time and Rs 500 annually, has been hiked to Rs. 3,000 at a time per person. The overall amount has been increased to Rs 30,000 per annum.

Besides, the government has also revised the fund for the maintenance of Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals. The amount has been hiked from Rs. 15 per head per day to 51.43 per head per day, according to an ANI report. This amount includes money for three meals—breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There has also been an increase in the amount to be spent on visitors from India or abroad who have been contacted by security agencies for discussions on important matters. The amount has been Rs 2,000 to Rs. 50,000 per annum.
