Heaving a sigh of relief, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the Supreme Court’s verdict on the NEET-UG retest row vindicates the Centre’s stand. Welcoming the verdict, the minister said the Centre will implement the recommendations of the expert committee once the report is submitted.
Welcoming the verdict, Pradhan said in a post on X, “Hon’ble Supreme Court’s observation on no systemic breach of sanctity in NEET-UG exam and therefore no re-exam vindicates the stand of the govt. The govt stands committed to Tamper-free, Transparent & Zero-error examination system.”
Pradhan said the government shall implement the directions of the high-level expert committee once received to ensure a transparent examination system. “The findings and the verdict outrightly reject the propaganda that was being peddled. We wholeheartedly thank Hon’ble Supreme Court for delivering justice and protecting the interests of lakhs of hardworking students. We shall implement Hon'ble Supreme Court’s judgement in letter and spirit,” Pradhan said.
The apex court on Friday pronounced the detailed verdict on the NEET-UG retest issue. The Supreme Court, on July 23, ordered against retest saying the question paper breach was limited to two places and not widespread. The Supreme Court has directed the expert committee appointed by the Centre to evaluate the examination process and suggest rigorous mechanisms to prevent shortcomings in the future. The panel has been directed to submit its report by September 30.
