Mollywood superstar and National Award-winning actor Mohanlal visited the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad on Saturday. However, the actor was there in a different role, as the lieutenant colonel of the Territorial Army.

The actor reached Wayanad on Saturday and visited the base camp of the Territorial Army. He interacted with personnel and was briefed about the rescue and relief operations being conducted in the area. Mohanlal visited Pujarimuttam and Mundakai, the points where the landslide originated.

The actor was conferred the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army in 2009, considering his honest portrayal of men in uniform in movies.ย ย

The actor has contributed Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Ministerโ€™s Disaster Relief Fund. Earlier, appreciating the relief works being done by the Territorial Army, Mohanlal said he was feeling grateful for their efforts.ย

โ€œI salute the courage of the selfless volunteers, policemen, Fire & Rescue, NDRF, army soldiers, government officials, and every person working tirelessly to provide relief to the victims of the Wayanad disaster. I am grateful for the efforts of my 122 Infantry Battalion, TA Madras, who have been at the forefront of the relief mission. We have faced challenges before and emerged stronger. I pray that we stand united and show the strength of our unity in this difficult time. Jai Hind!โ€
