Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has stirred up a social media storm after he posted a short video of the relief work in landslides-hit Wayanad with a crisp caption that many felt was in poor taste.
“Some memories of a memorable day in Wayanad,” the Thiruvananthapuram MP wrote on X, along with the one-minute video.
Tharoor, whose English language prowess is widely acknowledged, however, soon found himself at the receiving end of trolls and criticism with many argue that the word ‘memorable’ always carries positive connotations and its usage while referring to a tragedy is unsavory.

As criticism mounted, the Congress leader on Sunday came up with a clarification and put out the definition of the word in a fresh post on X.
“For all the trolls: definition of ‘memorable’: Something that is memorable is worth remembering or likely to be remembered, because it is special or unforgettable,” he said.
"That's all I meant," he added.
However, not all are impressed. “This explanation is even worse than what you actually posted,” wrote one user.
“Do you really wants to consider a painful moment as memorable moment?,” asked another.
