The BJP has decided to reach out to all sections of society for their views in preparing the election manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. A decision in this regard was made during a two-day meeting in Jammu, which concluded in Jammu on Sunday.
The meeting was led by G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Coal and Mines and the party's in-charge of elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Several prominent leaders attended the meeting, including Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh, MP Jugal Kishore, BJP State President Ravinder Raina, former J&K Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and BJP National Secretary Dr Narinder Singh.
Others included J&K BJP General Secretaries Ashok Koul, Sunil Sharma, Vibodh Gupta, and Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, BJP national executive member Priya Sethi, chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi, spokesperson R.S. Pathania, senior leader Devender Singh Rana Rafiq Wani, BJP co-in charge Kashmir and J&K BJP vice-president Sham Lal Sharma among others.
During the meeting, Reddy stressed the importance of ensuring the party's victory in the polls and dismissed any rumours of election delays. He urged the leaders to engage with traders, farmers, industry and business owners, youth, and all communities to gather inputs for the party's manifesto.
A senior BJP leader from Kashmir said the party has completed the set-up of booth and constituency heads and that workers are eagerly awaiting the election schedule.
The meeting also discussed forming teams at the district level to implement a mass contact programme to reach out to the grassroots.
Ravinder Raina informed the meeting that the Union Territory (UT) has been divided into seven areas for focused attention: Jammu, Rajouri-Poonch, Doda-Ramban-Kishtwar, Udhampur-Reasi, Samba-Kathua, Kashmir, and Kashmir Displaced. Each area will receive special attention based on its unique issues.
The meeting also analysed the party's strengths and weaknesses as highlighted by the results of the Lok Sabha elections and decided to address the areas needing improvement to achieve their goals in the assembly elections.
