People of Maharashtra want this government to go as the state has deteriorated on all fronts which is why they voted against the BJP and saffron alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, said NCP (Sharad Pawar) state president Jayant Patil on Friday.

Patil was speaking after the inauguration of his party's Shiv Swarajya Yatra, which will travel to various corners of the state ahead of assembly elections.

Patil said his party's yatra is not a fancy affair as they do not have the resources of their political opponents. However, our yatra will touch the hearts and minds of the people of the state. "We see even more enthusiasm and willingness to work harder ahead of assembly elections among party workers," said Patil.

Without naming Ajit Pawar, whose party's yatra began on Thursday and has pink as its dominant colour theme, Jayant Patil said that the colour of their yatra and their party is that of people of the state. Our yatra doesn't need any particular colour as we are like our people of various colours, communities and religions, said Patil.

Patil claimed Maharashtra had fallen behind Gujarat in overall development indicators and their government will bring the state back to its original glory.
