Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske has alleged that Shiv Sena (UBT) President Uddhav Thackeray met one of the controversial Gupta brothers from South Africa during his recent trip to New Delhi.

Gupta brothers are allegedly involved in looting multiple million rands from South African state-run enterprises. They were also very close to powers that be in South Africa when Jacob Zuma was president of the country.

Mhaske claimed that Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP and Saamna editor Sanjay Raut was involved in arranging the meeting, adding that Uddhav Thackeray did not meet Gupta brothers in Mumbai because it would have come to the notice of investigation agencies.

The meeting took place at the residence of Raut. "The containers of commission have stopped reaching Thackeray, that's why he must have met one of the Gupta brothers in order to ask for election funds. Raut may have switched off CCTVs in his house but CCTVs on the road were functioning and agencies must investigate who came to Raut's residence in a vehicle with completely black window glasses," alleged the Thane MP.

Mhaske also claimed that Thackeray had gone to Delhi with a begging bowl and he urged every one to make him Maharashtra chief minister but he didn't achieve anything.

According to Mhaske, the meeting with one of the Gupta brothers was arranged by Raut in order to help one powerful NCP leader who is interested in becoming chief minister. "So is it a plot to trap Uddhav Thackeray so that he doesn't become hurdle in chief ministerial race," Mhaske sought to know from Raut.
