He can dance like a dream, bang the baddies and deliver politically loaded dialogues with a punch. He always plays the role of a middle class young man, who respects women, treats people with dignity and the one who fights for social cause. When Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan expressed their intention to take the political plunge, his was a wait and watch. Rajinikanth opted out even before entering, while Kamal did not make an impact in Tamil Nadu politics. Actor Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy among his fans, is all set for the big show, with his recently registered political party Thamizhga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

With his next film Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) expected to release in the first week of September, he is preparing to conduct his maiden public conference. His party TVK has approached the Tiruchy railway division requesting for the allotment of the railway’s G-corner ground in Trichy, for organising a mega public conference.

According to sources, on August 1st, TVK's General Secretary N. Anand, also known as Bussy Anand, submitted a letter to the Tiruchy railway division requesting the railways to allot the G corner ground as venue for the public conference. Sources in the party say that they expect more than five lakh people, all in the age group of 18 to 25, to witness their top star Thalapathy make his maiden political speech.

Sources say that TVK in its letter mentioned that the meeting will be scheduled to happen between September 20 and 23. The letter also mentioned that TVK president Joseph Vijay will pay the rent for the venue. The Trichy railway division G corner ground is one of the popular locations where most of the political parties host their mega public rallies. It is a 10 acre ground.

According to sources close to Vijay and TVK, the party office bearers were scouting for various locations across the state to organise the public rally. As the list of invitees was long and the crowd could be huge they chose the G Corner ground. “We are waiting for a response from the railways,” an office bearer of TVK said. But some of the office bearers also feel that even this ground might not be enough. “We need a huge space for parking, food and then the stage,” said a source in TVK. He says the party was actually looking for 61 acres for the meeting.

The letter has been forwarded by the Trichy division to the Railway Board, which is the final authority to give permissions.
