Tamil Nadu fake NCC camp SHOCKER: 13 girls sexually abused; principal, teachers arrested for hushing up case

Police are investigating whether such incidents occurred in other schools

At least 13 schoolgirls were sexually abused at a private school in Krishangiri, Tamil Nadu, during a fake National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp held on its campus between August 5 and 9. One of the girls was sexually assaulted while 12 others were sexaully harassed, said police on Monday.

At least 11 people have been arrested in the case so far. The main accused, identified as Sivaraman, who allegedly sexually abused the girls during the fake camp, was at large and was arrested on Monday. Sivaraman, who was the Kirshnagiri East district secretary of Naam Tamilar Katchi youth wing, was booked under POCSO Act and BNS sections.

School principal A. Sathish Kumar, school's correspondent Samson Wesley and two teachers were arrested for not informing the police after students complained about the crime.

Police said the school did not have an NCC unit while the organiser of the fake camp approached the management, saying they will get qualified to have an NCC unit if they host the camp. The school management neither held background checks on the group nor took permission conduct the camp. It also did not task teachers to supervise the students.

Police are investigating whether such incidents occurred in other schools.
