With Tamil actor Vijay set to launch the flag and symbol of his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on August 22, all eyes are on what the flag will look like.
It has been reported that the flag will be yellow, a colour that symbolises equality in Tamil culture.
Meanwhile, an image of a yellow flag has gone viral on social media. The flag shows Vijays image within a red circle in the centre. However, TVK officials or Vijay have not confirmed if the viral flag is their official party flag.
Earlier, it was decided that the flag and party symbol will be unveiled during a conference after Vijay's upcoming movie GOAT (Greatest of All Time) hits the theatres. However, TVK officials later decided to launch them ahead of the film's release.
Vijay is expected to hoist the TVK flag on a 30 feet pole at the party headquarters in Panaiyur. Around 300 functionaries hailing from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Karnataka have been invited besides around 100 journalists, reported DT Next. It added that Vijay rehearsed the flag-hoisting ceremony twice at the party headquarters on Monday.
Vijay had also met DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakant at her Virugambakkam residence and paid tribute to her late husband and DMDK chief Vijayakant. He also thanked Premalatha for allowing GOAT makers to portray the late actor in the film using AI technology.
There are also rumours that Vijay will quit acting after GOAT and become a full-time politician. He launched the party in February but did not contest in the Lok Sabha elections nor openly supported any alliances. TVK's first state conference is scheduled to be held in Vikravandi on September 22. Reports suggest that Vijay will announce his interest in contesting in the 2026 assembly polls.
