In a prelude to the formal launch of a massive political rally, Tamil actor ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay will unveil his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s flag on August 22, at its headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai.
Vijay will hoist the flag and release the party anthem at 9.15 am on Thursday. Over 300 functionaries from the party and the Vijay fan club are likely to participate in the flag-hoisting event on Thursday.
The launch comes exactly a month before TVK's massive state-level conference planned for September 22 at Vikravandi near Villupuram in North Tamil Nadu. In a statement released on the party’s X page, Vijay said, “Our flag will fly across the state from tomorrow. Tamil Nadu will be better from now on. Victory is certain.”
The launch of the flag at Panaiyur on the East Coast Road in Chennai, will be the first official event of the party since its launch on February 2. Sources say that the flag will be yellow in colour with Vijay’s image on it. Lyrics for the flag anthem have been penned by lyricist V Vivek and composed by S Thaman.
Vijay and his party TVK are making elaborate arrangements for the Vikravandi rally. Sources in the party say that they are expecting a huge crowd from across Tamil Nadu and south India. Vijay is all set to be in active politics after the first public conference and prepare the ground to fight the 2026 assembly election in Tamil Nadu. His The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) is scheduled to release on September 5 and he has signed yet another ‘political’ film with director H Vinoth which will hit the screens in 2025.
Vijay is the latest star from Tamil Nadu to join the bandwagon of many cinema actors taking the political plunge. He announced the formation of his party TVK on February 2.
