Even as protests across the country demanding justice for the trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at the West Bengal government-run run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata continue, sex workers in Sonagachi too took to the streets, seeking justice.

There is such a big red street area in Kolkata to visit if you have so much lust, said one of the protesting sex workers of Sonagachi.

The women in the red street area are ready to cooperate to meet your sexual needs if you pay, she said, and urged people to not sexually harass or rape women.

The body of a postgraduate trainee doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered, was found in the seminar room of the hospital on August 9, triggering protests across the nation. A civic volunteer was arrested in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, a team from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) visited the hospital and inspected the security arrangements in the wake of a Supreme Court order. The apex court, on Tuesday, ordered the deployment of CISF at the hospital to enable doctors to resume work.

The court had come down heavily on the state government saying, "In the aftermath of the brutal incident and the demonstrations which followed, the state government was expected to ensure the deployment of the state machinery to prevent a breach of law and order. It was all the more necessary to do so since investigation of the crime which took place in the precincts of the hospital was underway. We are unable to comprehend how the state was not prepared to deal with the incident of vandalisation of the premises of the hospital."
