In a case of domestic violence, a man allegedly attacked and cut off the nose of his wife in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi after she insisted on visiting her native for Raksha Bandhan. The woman, 28, is admitted to the trauma centre of Lucknow King George's Medical University (KGMU) following the incident.

The violent crime took place in the residence of Rahul Kumar (32) and Anita Kumari in Baniyaani Purwa of Hardoi district. Hailing from Behta Gokul village in the same district, Anita Kumari wanted to visit her family for Raksha Bandhan on Monday, August 19. She wanted to tie a Rakhi to his brother on the auspicious day and insisted on a trip home. According to reports, Rahul was not in favour of the idea although his brother-in-law was available to take Kumari home. 

An argument broke out between the couple over the issue and Rahul reportedly attacked his wife with a sharp object, cutting off her nose.

The incident received public attention after a video of the woman explaining her ordeal with a bandaged nose at a hospital went viral. In the footage, she narrated the horrific story al and accused her husband of chopping her nose off. Anita Kumari demanded action against her husband and declared that she no longer intends to remain the brute's life partner. 

Noticing the video, the Hardoi Police, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) reportedly said that the matter is under investigation and necessary action would be initiated.
