Actor Vijay unveiled his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s flag and symbol at an event held in Chennai on Thursday. The flag was later hoisted at his party headquarters in Panaiyur near here.

The red and yellow flag features two elephants and a a 'vakai flower' (Albizia Lebbeck) surrounded by stars at the centre.

The actor also read a pledge before unveiling the party flag in which he said he would uphold the principle of equality for all living beings. He also vowed to appreciate the fighters who fought and sacrificed their life for the liberation of our country and countless soldiers who fought tirelessly for the rights of our people from Tamil soil.

"I will remove the differences in the name of caste, religion, gender, and place of birth, create awareness among the people and strive for equal opportunities and equal rights for all. I solemnly affirm that I will uphold the principle of equality for all living beings," Vijay took the pledge.

The actor-turned-politician also promised to hold the first state conference soon. "Preparations are on for it and very soon I will announce it," he said adding that he "feels very proud" and would work together for the development of Tamil Nadu.

The TVK will also hold a massive rally in the last week of September to formally launch the party in the eyes of the public in Vikravandi in northern Tamil Nadu. The registration of the party under the Election Commission is at an advanced stage and will soon be complete.

With the entry of Vijay into the political arena, a new chapter has been unveiled in Tamil Nadu politics. The Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) is all set to face the 2026 Assembly elections in the state.

The rally and political developments come as His The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) is scheduled to release on September 5. Vijay has also signed yet another ‘political’ film with director H Vinoth which will hit the screens in 2025.
