The Delhi Police on Thursday busted an Al Qaeda-inspired terror module which reportedly wanted to establish a 'Khilafat' in India. 14 people were arrested for their link with the module and police personnel from  Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh were involved in the 

effort to nab them, a news report added. Arms, ammunition, and literature linked to terrorist activities were confiscated from their possession. 

The terror module wanted to execute terror activities in order to establish a 'Khilafat' within the country. According to Delhi Police, the module's members received combat and weapon training. It was led by Dr Ishtiyaq of Ranchi, NDTV said in a report.

Six men caught during the operation from Bhiwadi of Rajasthan were undergoing arms training, the report said. The eight others were arrested from parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and are being interrogated.

The operation to bust the terror module began on the basis of intel on its activities and extremist objectives. The joint effort between the state police units was crucial in the successful completion of the mission. 

During the crackdown, six suspects were caught in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, where they were undergoing weapons training. Additionally, eight individuals were arrested from Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh for further questioning. The police have recovered various arms, ammunition, and literature linked to terrorist activities.

More raids and arrests are likely to happen in connection with the development, Delhi Police officials have reportedly said. Founded by Osama bin Laden, Al-Qaeda is a global terror organisation that wants to bring about an Islamist revolution to unite the Muslim world under a supra-national Islamic caliphate.
