14 dead as India-registered bus with 40 onboard plunges into Marsyangdi River in Nepal

As many as 14 persons got killed as a passenger bus with Indian registration plunged into  Marsyangdi River in Nepal on Friday. Disaster management forces are conducting rescue operations in the river.

According to reports, the bus bearing Uttar Pradesh registration was heading to Kathmandu from Pokhara on Friday when it plunged into Marsyangdi River near Aaina Pahara in central Nepal. Tanahun DSP Deepkumar Raya told ANI, “The bus bearing number plate UP FT 7623 plunged into the river and is lying on the bank of the river.” 

According to officials, the Nepal Army and personnel from the Armed Police Force are engaged in relief operations. “A team of 45 Armed Police Force personnel led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Madhav Paudel from the Armed Police Force Nepal Disaster Management Training School has already reached the accident site and is carrying out the rescue operation,” PTI reported.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh government officials said they are trying to contact with officials in Nepal to ascertain whether any persons from the state have been affected by the accident.
