The CBI team, which raided the premises of former principal of RG Kar Medical College Sandip Ghosh in Kolkata, were made to wait for 75 minutes at his doorsteps before Ghosh finally let them in. The raid was carried out in connection with alleged financial irregularities at the hospital during his tenure as the principal.
The CBI team of seven people, including a woman official, arrived at Sandip Ghosh's residence at around 6:50 am. However, the gate appeared locked, according to Anand Bazar Patrika online.
Though the officials knocked on the door and rang the bell, there was no response. All efforts to contact Ghosh were unsuccessful as he did not attend the phone call. The officials waited until one of the CBI officials approached the Beleghata Police Station to discuss the next steps. However, around 8:05 am, Ghosh finally opened the door and let the officials in.

The search went on for 12 hours and 40 minutes. The CBI detectives left the former principal's Beleghata house at 8.46 pm with certain documents. However, another team of CBI officials entered the former principal's house around the afternoon, which triggered speculations. The officers also reportedly questioned Ghosh while the searches were being carried out. This was the ninth consecutive day of quizzing Ghosh in connection with the rape and murder case.
To a reporter's query whether there was enough evidence, a CBI official said: "There is a lot." However, there is no official statement from the team in this regard.
Besides Ghosh, the team also questioned vice-principal Saptarshi Chatterjee. The team has also raided the office of former vice-principal Sanjay Vashishth at his home in south Kolkata’s Entally. There was also a CBI search at the Kestopur home of Debashis Som, the former forensic medicine demonstrator at RG Kar. Som was later summoned to the CBI office for questioning.
The CBI registered a case of alleged financial irregularities at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College at the instructions of the Calcutta High Court. The High Court transferred the case to the central agency "in the interest of ensuring a comprehensive and unbiased inquiry" and directed the CBI to submit a progress report on the investigation within three weeks.
Meanwhile, the accused in the rape and murder of the trainee doctor at R G Kar Hospital was subjected to a polygraph test on Sunday. The test was conducted at Kolkata's Presidency Jail where he has been lodged.
