CM Stalin announces solatium of Rs 3 lakh for kin of deceased

Two youngsters got killed and four persons suffered grievous injuries in a blast at a firecracker godown in Thoothukudi during the late hours of Saturday. The injured are undergoing treatment at a nearby government hospital.

According to police, the blast occurred while the workers were handling the fireworks at the factory located near Nazareth in Thoothukudi on Saturday evening. The deceased were identified as K. Muthukannan (21) and T. Vijay (21).

Four persons suffered grievous injuries in the incident. The injured were identified as Selvam, Prashanth, Senthoorkani and Muthumari and they were rushed to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital and Sathankulam government hospital for treatment. According to police, the entire structure of the godown got completely gutted in the blast.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who is in the United States, condoled the incident. The CM announced a solatium of Rs 3 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for those injured and undergoing treatment at the hospital.
