According to the police, a group of locals suspected ragpickers residing in Charkhi Dadri's Hansawas Khurd village of cooking cow meat on August 27, Tuesday. Cow vigilante groups invaded migrant worker settlements and went from kitchen to kitchen, looking for beef dishes. They created ruckus after finding cooked meat in a house, a report said.

Police were initially notified of the development. They collected samples of the said meat dish and sent it for forensic examination.

A few hours later, before the report on the meat was out, the accused group caught hold of Sabir Malik, also a resident of Hansawas Khurd, Indian Express said in a report. He was beaten to death by a group of men identified as Abhishek, Mohit, Kamaljit, Sahil and Ravinder.

Malik's body was found near Bhandwa village on Friday, another report said. According to his kin, Malik was asked to come to the local bus stand to collect some metal scrap and abducted.

After the autopsy, his body was handed over to his family.
