Who was Anika Rastogi? NIA officer's daughter who died of cardiac arrest in hostel had locked door from inside

Police said there were no injuries on her body and they found nothing suspicious in her hostel room

The daughter of an IPS officer was found dead on the floor of her hostel room at Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow on Saturday night, according to police.

Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, in a statement, said Anika who brought in an unconscious state died of cardiac arrest at around 10 pm. 

Ashiyanya Police said her room was locked from inside and they have found nothing suspicious. They added that there were no injuries on her body. Her friends had to break the door open as she did not respond to knocks or calls on her phone.

Who was Anika Rastogi?

Anika Rastogi, 19, was a third-year BA LLB (Hons) student at Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University. 

Her father is Sanjay Rastogi, who is a 1998 batch IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre. He is currently serving as Inspector General at the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

"The entire RML family is mourning her untimely demise. The university stands with her family of Anika Rastogi in this hour of grief. Our condolences and prayers are with her family," said the hospital.

The family has not filed a formal complaint. Police said they will take further actions after the autopsy results are released.
