The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday released its first list of 67 candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections scheduled to be held on October 5.
The party fielded Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from the Ladwa seat while former Haryana BJP president Om Prakash Dhankar will contest from Badli.
Saini currently represents the Karnala assembly seat. He was an MP from Kurukshetra until he was appointed the chief minister in March, replacing Manohar Lal Khattar.
Veteran party leader Anil Vij has been fielded from Ambala Cantt, a seat he has won three successive times since 2009.
The BJP has rewarded several recent entrants to the party with poll tickets. It has fielded Devender Singh Babli, Sanjay Kablana and Shruti Choudhry, who recently joined the saffron party, from Tohana, Beri and Tosham seats, respectively.

The first list included the names of Capt Abhimanyu, Bhavya Bishnoi, the son of Kuldeep Bishnoi, and former MP Sunita Duggal. Arti Singh Rao, daughter of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, wll contest from Ateli.
Voting on 90 assembly seats in Haryana will be held on October 5 and counting of votes will be undertaken on October 8.
The BJP is likely to face a tough fight from a united opposition as both the Congress and the Aam aadmi Party are engaged in seat-sharing talks.
In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the saffron party could win only five of the 10 seats in the state even though it had swept all of them in 2019.
