The Enforcement Directorate arrested a close aide of former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital’s Principal Sandip Ghosh on Friday in connection with probe into alleged financial irregularities at the institution. ED had conducted raids at several places including Ghosh’s residence today.
The central agency arrested Prashun Chatterjee after a seven-hour operation from his residence in De Para area of Subhashgram, ANI reported. Chatterjee, a close aide of Ghosh, was seen along with the former principal in the video shot at the seminar hall of RG MCH.
The central agency has slapped a case of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Ghosh. Besides Ghosh's, the residences of three of his associates were raided by the ED officials on Friday.he ED has filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against Ghosh, which is analogous to a First Information Report (FIR) in criminal cases.

Prasoon worked as a data entry operator at the National Medical College. The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Ghosh and three of his aides on Monday on charges of financial misconduct at the hospital.
The probe into the financial irregularities was launched after a petition was filed in Calcutta High Court raising concerns that the corruption at RG Kar hospital might be linked to the doctor's death. Dr Akhtar Ali, the former deputy superintendent of the facility, sought an investigation by the ED into multiple allegations of financial misconduct during Ghosh's tenure as principal. Ghosh served as principal from February 2021 to September 2023. He was briefly transferred from RG Kar in October 2023 but was reinstated within a month.
