Maharashtra Congress's chief spokesperson Atul Londhe on Tuesday raised the issue of lack of action against the son of BJP State President Chandrashekhar Bavankule, who is allegedly involved in a hit-and-run case in Nagpur.
Londhe alleged that under the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) alliance government, ruling party’s MLAs, MPs, and their relatives seem to have no fear of the law. "The ruling party has no care for the law and order of the state."
According to Londhe, the BJP state president's son, Sanket Bawankule, allegedly hit multiple vehicles in Nagpur while driving an Audi car in an intoxicated state. However, no action has been taken against him yet. "Who is putting pressure on the police?" asked Londhe.
Speaking on this matter, Londhe said the Audi car involved in hitting three to four people in Nagpur belongs to Sanket Bawankule, son of BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule. “It was observed that after the accident, the car's number plates were removed and placed inside the vehicle, indicating an attempt to hide evidence. In the Bajajnagar area, one person was injured during this accident, but he is unwilling to speak out. Two more people were injured, but they are also keeping silent. The accident happened at 12.36am, so what was Sanket Bawankule's location between 12.30 and 1am? Instead of arresting Sanket Bawankule and taking action, the police administration is shielding him, and there seems to be an attempt to suppress the case under pressure,” claimed Londhe.
He further asked, "Does the general public's life have no value for the children of powerful leaders? In hit-and-run cases, often, the children or close associates of the BJP and other ruling alliance leaders are involved. The Mahayuti government does not value lives of people in the state. This government only focuses on saving its leaders and wealthy individuals. However, this government will have to pay for it in the future, as the public will give them an answer,” Londhe added.
