An Ola Electric showroom in Karnataka's Kalaburagi was set on fire by an angry customer on Tuesday over unsatisfactory service from the staff. The accused, a 26-year-old man, was arrested by the police.

The showroom suffered losses worth Rs 8,50,000 in the incident, Karnataka Police confirmed.

The man who set the e-vehicle showroom on fire was identified as Mohammad Nadeem, a mechanic by profession. He had bought an electric scooter worth Rs 1.4 lakh from the showroom last month. However, the e-scooter showed signs of going kaput a few days later and Nadeem had to bring it to the showroom. Erroneous battery and sound system were reportedly identified as the problems with his vehicle.

The service section at the Kalaburgi showroom was not ideally responsive to Nadeem. He had to visit the place several times, but his concern was not properly addressed. Having lost his patience, Nadeem on Tuesday reached the showroom with petrol and set six scooters on fire, a police source told Deccan Chronicle.

In addition to the vehicles, several computers were also damaged by Nadeem's violent action. Some reports claimed that the showroom was fully destroyed in the fire.
