The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday questioned Trinamool Congress MLA Sudipto Roy in connection with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the RG Kar medical college hospital in Kolkata.
Roy, who is also a doctor, was questioned at his residence in Sinthee area on the northern fringes of Kolkata in the afternoon.
"CBI sleuths had come to question me regarding the investigation into the death of a student at RG Kar hospital last month. I cooperated with them," Roy, who is MLA of Serampore assembly constituency, told the media.

Roy is the president of the RG Kar Patient's Welfare Committee. It is not clear what transpired during the interrogation.
“He was present at the hospital soon after the news of the doctor’s death spread. We are questioning him about what he knows about the case,” a CBI official told news agency PTI.
According to reports, sleuths of the central probe agency were also conducting a search operation at a nursing home belonging to Roy.
West Bengal has been witnessing widespread protests by junior doctors after the trainee doctor was raped and murdered at the RG Kar hospital. Her body was found at the seminar hall of the hospital on August 9.
The CBI is probing the case following a directive from the Calcutta High Court even though a civic volunteer has been arrested.
