At least 7 killed in road accident involving Bengaluru-bound APSRTC bus, two lorries in Andhra's Chittoor

At least seven people lost their lives after two trucks and a Bengaluru-bound APSRTC bus collided in Andhra Pradesh's Mogali Ghat road. As many as 30 others have been injured in the incident and have been rushed to various hospitals in Chittoor district, reports said.

The ill-fated APSRTC bus was en route to Bengaluru from Tirupati, Times Now said in a report. 

After a head-on collision with the first lorry, the bus was struck from the rear by a second, The Hindu said in a report. The passengers of the bus from  Alipiri depot of Tirupati were pilgrims returning to Bengaluru after visiting the Tirumala temple, the report added.

Chittoor Collector Sumit Kumar reportedly said that the Andhra Pradesh state government has announced a relief of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the victims.

Responding to the accident, CMO Andhra Pradesh tweeted, "Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep grief over the death of seven people in a road accident at Mogali Ghat in Chittoor district. He asked the officials about the medical aid to the injured and ordered to provide better treatment. Deepest condolences to the families of the deceased."
