A police complaint was filed against Karnataka BJP MLA Munirathna on Friday for allegedly threatening a Dalit contractor with the "same fate as Renukaswamy." The Rajarajeshwarinagar MLA reportedly threatened the complainant over a dispute over a commission payment.
According to contractor Chaluvaraju, Munirathna demanded a hefty commission for a deal that the former recently sealed. As he disagreed to pay the sum of Rs 20 lakh demanded by the MLA, Chaluvaraju was threatened and abused over the phone.

The contractor was reportedly willing to pay Rs 1 lakh to the BJP leader who was not convinced. “MLA Munirathna has threatened me to pay Rs 20 lakhs. If I don’t pay, he said the same fate as Renukaswamy will happen to me.” Times Of India (TOI) quoted the contractor who met Police Commissioner Dayanand to file a complaint as saying.
The contractor was also able to present an audio clip in which Munirathna was allegedly heard using abusive language agaisnt him and his wife. The said audio file has gone viral, the daily said. Neither the Karnataka Policenor MLA Munirathna has responded to the allegation so far.

Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old native of Chitradurga, was abducted and tortured to death by a gang for Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. He succumbed to his injuries after being assaulted for several hours at a shed in Bengaluru's outer limits.
Renukaswamy underwent unspeakable horrors at the hands of his tormentors, who administered electric shock to his genitals, threw him to the wall and took turns to beat him. Darshan and his girlfriend Pavitra Gowda also reached the shed to assault Renukaswamy, the police found out.
