THE WEEK and Malayala Manorama Chief Associate Editor and Director Riyad Mathew has been unanimously elected as the chairman of Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for the year 2024-2025.
The ABC of India is a non-profit organisation, which certifies and audits the circulation of major newspapers and magazines in the country.
Riyad is also a director of The Press Trust of India (PTI) since August 2009, and was the PTI chairman from 2016-2017. He also served as a board member of the International Press Institute, based in Vienna, till May 2023, and is currently the chairman of International Press Institute - India.
Riyad was also on the board of Media Research Users Council and Association of Indian Magazines. He completed his master's in journalism from University of Maryland and trained at The Washington Post, The Washington Times and Capital News Service.
Riyad is the chief associate editor and director of THE WEEK—India's largest circulated and fastest growing weekly English News Magazine—and the Malayala Manorama Group, which has more than 40 publications in five languages and has diversified into television, radio, music and online.
Karunesh Bajaj of ITC Limited was elected deputy chairman, while Mohit Jain of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. was re-elected hon. secretary, and Vikram Sakhuja of Madison Communications Pvt. Ltd. re-elected hon. treasurer of the ABC.
