Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the US for a three-day visit, during which he will attend a Quad summit and address a key conclave at the United Nations, besides holding bilaterals with President Joe Biden and other leaders.
Modi landed at Philadelphia from where he will travel to Wilmington, Biden’s hometown, which hosts this year’s Quad summit.
“Landed in Philadelphia. Today’s programme will be focused on the Quad Summit and the bilateral meeting with @POTUS @JoeBiden . I am sure the discussions throughout the day will contribute to making our planet better and addressing key global challenges,” Modi said in a post on X as soon as he arrived at Philadelphia.
Modi said the Indian community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors.
Earlier, in his departure statement in New Delhi, Modi said the Quad has emerged as a key group of the like-minded countries to work for peace, progress and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
“My meeting with President Biden will allow us to review and identify new pathways to further deepen India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the benefit of our people and the global good,” he said.
The prime minister will hold bilaterals with his Australian and Japanese counterparts—Anthony Albanese and Fumio Kishida.
Modi will also join an Indian diaspora event at Long Island on September 22 and participate in a round table with CEOs of American firms working on cutting-edge technologies such as AI, quantum computing and semiconductors.
“I am eagerly looking forward to engaging with the Indian diaspora and important American business leaders, who are the key stakeholders and provide vibrancy to the unique partnership between the largest and the oldest democracies of the world,” Modi said before leaving Delhi.
