In June, Chib had asserted that only the Congress can meet the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He had called on the youth of the Valley to keep the momentum from the Lok Sabha polls going by continuing to throw their weight behind the grand old party.
In his recent public addresses, Chib had come down heavily on the NDA government for its failure in addressing basic issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Congress is fighting the ongoing J&K Assembly elections in a pre-poll alliance with the National Conference (NC). As per the agreement between the two parties, NC will contest 52 seats while the Congress will contest 31 seats.
Both have fielded candidates on these five seats who will engage in a friendly contest on these five seats.
