The man, who was accused of murdering Bengaluru woman, chopping her body into pieces and stuffing them in a refrigerator, was found hanging from a tree in Odisha.
The man, identified as Muktirajan Pratap Ray, 31, was found dead near Bhuinpur in Odisha. In a suicide note, he admitted to killing Mahalakshmi, 29, at her home in Vyalikaval, Bengaluru. The note was found in a bag recovered from the spot where Ray allegedly hanged himself.
In the suicide note, Ray wrote that he killed his lover Mahalakshmi on September 3 as he was fed up with her conduct. He added that they fought over personal matters and she attacked him. An enraged Ray then killed her, chopped her body into 59 pieces and kept them in the fridge.
Odisha police have registered a case of unnatural death in Ray's suicide.
Once the Bengaluru police submit a requisition and get court approval, Odisha police will hand over the suicide note, sources quoted by The Indian Express said. The investigation team from Bengaluru are on the way to Odisha.
This comes after Bengaluru police found out that Ray was behind the murder of the woman. The duo who had been working together in a city mall had known each other since 2003. Police tried to contact Mahalakshmi's acquaintances and became suspicious when they could not find him.
Ray was reportedly unhappy with Mahalakshmi's relationship with another man, which allegedly led to her murder.
Mahalakshmi's maggot-infested body was discovered by her mother and sister after neighbours alerted them about foul smell from the single-bedroom flat. Her body was cut into pieces and kept inside the 165 litre refrigerator.
