In the latest development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the RG Kar Hospital rape-murder case told a local court in Kolkata that "false records were created at the Tala Police Station, relating to the case".
In its remand note the agency stated that the "custodial interrogation of both the accused persons, new/additional facts have emerged to the effect that some false records pertaining to the instant case were created/altered in PS Tala."
The Kolkata court on Wednesday extended the CBI custody of former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal Sandip Ghosh and suspended police officer Abhijit Mondal till September 30.
The two had been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital last month. Both accused were arrested on September 14 in connection with the case.
The officer-in-charge of the Tala Police Station then Abhijit Mondal is accused of tampering with evidence and delaying FIR registration. The CBI is probing in detail the ‘nexus’ between Ghosh and Mondal.
The remand note also pointed out that the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and hard disk containing CCTV footage inside the police station and mobile phones of Ghosh and Mondal have been sent to the forensics lab in Kolkata for data extraction.

There was evidence of both accused exchanging a number of calls, the remand note said.
"Both the accused facilitated cremation (of the victim's body) hurriedly while family members specifically demanded a second autopsy," it stated.
Also, on Sunday the CBI questioned another doctor, Birupaksha Biswas, allegedly close to Ghosh, in connection with the rape and murder.

Junior doctors remind Bengal chief secretary of unfulfilled promises
After partially resuming duties at government-run hospitals in West Bengal, junior doctors sent an email to Chief Secretary Manoj Pant on Thursday reminding him of their unmet demands discussed during the September 18 meeting.
The junior doctors protested with a 42-day cease work demanding justice for the victim.
"We would like to mention that no action has been taken/no order has been passed in regard to some of the important demands placed and agreed upon by both the parties," representatives of the West Bengal Junior Doctors' Forum (WBJDF) wrote in the letter.
The doctors emphasised the formation of a central inquiry committee to address the alleged "threat culture" in all medical colleges across the state.
The WBJDF reminded Pant of their demand for the state government to form an inquiry committee against the West Bengal Medical Council (WBMC) and West Bengal Health Recruitment Board (WBHRB) members accused of promoting the threat culture and running health syndicates. They had given a time frame of seven working days to complete their demand.
