A road accident in Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR) during the wee hours of Monday, September 30, claimed the life of a doctor working with the LV Prasad Eye Hospital. Dr Nilay Reddy, 29, died after his car rammed into a road divider and fell off the road, reports said. He was a Cornea and Anterior Segment Fellow at the esteemed medical facility.
The LV Prasad Eye Hospital employee was en route to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) from his residence in Jubilee Hills when the road accident occurred, Hyderabad-based media reports said. While the cause of the accident was not confirmed at the time of filing this report, a preliminary probe showed that his car was travelling at a very high speed. The police also confirmed that the victim was not under the influence of alcohol.
Dr Nilay Reddy's car was going at about 140kmph speed during the time of the accident, The Hindu said in a report. The allowed speed on the road is 120 kmph.
His sedan rammed into a road divider near Exit 17 of ORR at around 5:00 AM, the report said. The victim's body was found in bushes near the accident site.
The Rajendranagar Police have registered a case in connection with the accident. The late doctor's body was taken to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy procedure while the car was towed away from the accident spot.
In an unrelated development, four members of a family died in Karnataka's Udupi when their two-wheeler allegedly crashed into a mini truck on Monday on the state highway at Pajegudde. According to police, the accident occurred as the family was proceeding from Karkala to Venur on Monday morning.
