A Gujarat youth was arrested for culpable homicide after his 23-year-girlfriend died due to excessive bleeding during sex. The accused looked for remedies to stop her blood loss online instead of rushing the girl, a nursing student, to the hospital. Later, when he was convinced she needed medical care, he contacted his friends and awaited their arrival instead of booking an ambulance.
The girl would have survived if the valuable time was not wasted by the man on his phone and then pending the vehicle's arrival, police said.
The incident happened at a hotel in Gujarat’s Navsari district on September 23, Monday. The accused tried to clean up bloodstains in the hotel room to cover up the incident, police later found out. A forensic report confirmed that the girl died due to excessive blood loss and the 26-year-old man has been remanded in police custody until October 4, The Economic Times said in a report.
It was around 2:15 PM that the girl, a first-year nursing student in Navsari, was declared dead by the hospital where she was taken to by her boyfriend and his friends. The 60-90 minutes that he spent browsing online was crucial, the police said. The young woman would have survived if she was administered emergency treatment including IV fluids, blood, and medicines on time.
Haemorrhagic shock caused by severe injuries in the woman’s private parts was decalred the cause of death in the post-mortem report. The duo have been dating for about seven months after they reconnected online, the ET report said.
