Defying exit poll predictions, the BJP scored a hat-trick in Haryana, defeating Congress which had put up a tough fight initially. The saffron party was past the 46-seat majority mark in the 90-member Haryana assembly, suggesting that the anti-incumbency did not work in the favour of the Congress.
As counting began, early trends showed that the Congress seemed to be on track to score a big win in the Haryana polls.
However, the tables turned soon, and by noon, it was evident that the Congress was headed for a shock defeat.
Meanwhile, despite a high-voltage campaign, the Aam Aadmi Party, which went solo, failed to make a mark as none of its candidates was leading in any of the seats they contested.
The elections saw around 1,031 candidates, including 464 Independents, battling it out. However, the women representation in the elections was only one against 10 men as only 101 female candidates were in the fray.

"Our General Secretary Communications has tweeted to the Election Commission asking if the BJP was trying to put pressure on the local administration by delaying the display and uploading of data. In J&K you get live data with every round counted, but in Haryana, it is not so."
