The National Conference-Congress alliance is set to come to power in the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly, after the first-ever assembly polls since the abrogation of Article 370.
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah announced that Omar Abdullah would be the chief minister and added that the verdict was proof that the people of J&K were against the abrogation of Article 370.
The BJP is at a distant second in Jammu and Kashmir and the Mehbooba Mufti-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to impress as the party was leading in just two seats.
Meanwhile, the AAP registered its first victory in Jammu and Kashmir as party candidate Mehraj Malik won from Doda assembly seat, defeating BJP's Gajay Singh Rana.
