Haryana Assembly Election Result 2024: Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala's son Arjun Chautala is the only member of the Chautala family standing any chance of enterng the Haryana Assembly, election trends showed. While Abhay Chautala was defeated in Ellenabad by Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal, Arjun was ahead in Rania by over 4,000 votes. Dushyant Chautala, who was hailed the kingmaker in the 2019 Haryana Assembly Elections is also staring at a heavy defeat in Uchana Kala seat.

For the unversed, Haryana's Jannayak Janta Party and Indian National Lok Dal are led by the politically influential Chautalas. The INLD expelling Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay Chautala in 2018 led to the formation of the JJP, which won 10 seats in the assembly polls that took place the following year. Dushyant Chautala's decision to back the BJP was instrumental in the saffron party returning to power in the agrarian state.
However, five years later, both JJP and INLD are struggling in Haryana. Here is how the Chautalas are faring across seats in Haryana:
Abhay Singh Chautala: The INLD leader was handed a defeat in Ellenabad by Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal. The Congressman managed a victory of 15,000 votes against Chautala, securing 77,865 votes. BJP's Amir Chand Talwara finished third with 13,320 votes while runner-up Abhay Singh Chautala got 62,865.

Arjun Chautala: INLD leader Abhay Chautala's son, Arjun Chautala is leading in Rania by over 4,000 votes. His nearest rival Sarv Mittar of the Congress has so far polled 39,723 votes against his own 43,914. The BJP is faring poorly in Rania, falling behind fourth behind an Independent.
Dushyant Chautala: The JJP leader is nowhere in the picture in the Uchana Kala seat where BJP's Devender Chatar Bhuj Attri is leading Congressman Brijendra Singh by 39 seats. According to the latest ECI data, the BJP candidate has polled 48,788 against Brijendra Singh's 48,749. Dushyant Chautala is currently fifth with just 7,920 votes in his kitty. Two Independent candidates have polled far more votes that the JJP leader in Uchana Kala.
Sunaina Chautala: The daughter-in-law of Om Prakash Chautala's elder brother Pratap Singh Chautala, Sunaina of the INLD was handed a heavy defeat by the voters of Fatehabad constituency. Balwan Singh Doulapuria of the Congress won the seat by a margin of 2,252 votes. Doulapuria polled 86,172 votes in all while runner-up Dura Ram of the BJP secured 83,920. Sunaina Chautala finished third with just 9,681 votes.
Digvijaya Singh Chautala: The brother of Abhay Singh Chautala, Digvijaya Singh contested for Jannayak Janta Party against Aditya Devilal of the INLD in Sirsa's Dabwali constituency. According to the Election Commission website, Aditya is engaged in a tight-fight with Congressman Amit Sihag. Having secured 56,074 and 55,464 votes respectively so far, the contest is clearly betweenn INLD and Congress in Dabwali while Digvijaya Singh Chautala is trailing third with just 35,261 votes.
